Random Act of Dentistry
When you look at Citrus View Dental it’s pretty obvious the staff is proud of the local community—Even the business name comes from their home town of Redlands, CA. Dr. Mee and the whole staff were born and raised here, Dr. Mee graduated down the street at Loma Linda University and the idea of community permeates throughout the entire Citrus View business model, again from the name to the Augies Coffee and Martha Greens treats served in the waiting room.
So the staff’s idea of doing a Random Act of Dentistry for someone in the Redlands community came pretty naturally.

“As a dentist here in Redlands, I thought it would be great to help someone local. My staff and I decided it would be fun to do something really nice for somebody completely random.” -Dr. Eric Mee
“One of the reasons I chose to become a dentist,” says Dr, Eric Mee, founder of Citrus View Dental, “was to have the ability to improve the health and therefore quality of life for others. One of the things I enjoy most about dentistry is having the opportunity to provide my services to those who may not have the means to receive proper dental care.”
“As a dentist here in Redlands, I thought it would be great to help someone local. My staff and I decided it would be fun to do something really nice for somebody completely random,” Dr. Mee recalls.
Not too long after kicking the idea around in the office, Dr. Mee found himself satisfying a sweet tooth craving at the local Jamba Juice in Citrus Plaza, ordering, as he describes it, “some berry somethin’ or other.”
It was there he found the perfect patient for Citrus View’s first Random Act of Dentistry, a lovely and super nice employee by the name of Monique.
You can’t really help but smile if you meet Monique. She’s a very happy person with a lot to be happy about: she’s 25 years old, has a daughter and had just gotten married the week prior to meeting Dr. Mee. A very bubbly personality that makes a visit to the Redlands Jamba Juice all the more pleasant.
“Monique is probably one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.” Says Dr. Mee. “Super down to earth, really cool and she’s got a big smile.” “I did notice she had a tooth that was in need of some help,” Dr. Mee recalls. “One of the things I admired most about Monique was that regardless of the issues with a few of her front teeth it didn’t stop her from having the biggest smile in the room. I carefully asked about her tooth…It was a little awkward but I told her I was a dentist first…and she said she had fallen a few years ago and broke her tooth, and she never really had the means to get it fixed.”
“I offered to help her out and she was super excited and she was very glad to accept our help,” Dr. Mee recalls with a smile. “I wish I had that interaction on video. She was way happy and actually started crying right there in the store.”
Success! Citrus View’s first Random Act of Dentistry and Monique were a perfect fit, a match made in Jamba Juice if you will. But teeth that have suffered as much trauma as Monique’s front teeth (numbers 7 and 8) require a bit of prep and a few visits of chair time, so we got her scheduled to come in for an initial before x-ray and an exam to get started, on the house of course.
Dr. Mee recalls the procedure. “We had Monique in the office and did a full exam, got her all cleaned up and took care of any of the minor issues that she may have had, little cavities and things here and there,” says Dr. Mee. “Then we got to work on her smile.”
“As you can see, tooth number 8 was badly broken, decayed, discolored. The tooth next to that, number 7 was also chipped and stained as well. The before X-ray showed root canal post and composite buildup with some leakage and some decay, so everything including the existing root canal had to be replaced. The after X-rayshows the new root canal, the new fiber post, build up and all ceramic crown. If we had left the tooth how it was, it’s likely she would have lost the tooth.”
Monique was very happy with the result of her treatment. You can see the difference before and after is pretty drastic and she was very happy, not only to have her mouth a lot more healthy, but also to have her smile looking a lot better.
“It’s been very easy,” Monique said. “I was really scared…not scared of the experience but I’ve had issues with pain at Dentist’s office before…but it’s been really, really easy going here. [Dr. Mee] is really, really gentle. I like that. The staff is awesome, the whole experience was just really, really nice, it really was.”
